Indonesia's environmental diplomacy has once again achieved international acknowledgement. Indonesia has been entrusted to host an international environment minister's conference in Nusa Dua, Bali from the 21" to the 26th of February, 2010. The 11th Special Session of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme/Global Ministerial Environment Forum (SS 11 GC/GMEF) focus on the main theme of "Environment in the Multilateral System", will be the first major environmental forum since the Copenhagen Climate Conference in December 2009.
Jakarta - A number of interfaith figures here Thursday declared the formation of an Inter-Religious Council (IRC) in Indonesia to optimize the role of religious communities.
The initiators of the IRC''s establishment were representatives of all the religions existing in Indonesia, namely Islam, Catholicism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, as well as the country''s two largest Muslim Organizations, Nahdlatul Ulama" (NU) and Muhammadiyah.
