PRESS RELEASE " SAIL BANDA 2010: Small Islands for Our Future"

CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia will host a marine festival called "Sail Banda 2010" in Maluku Province starting on July 24 until August 17, 2010. Sail banda 2010 will officially open with a yacht rally that flags off on July 24 in  Darwin, Australia and will culminate in Ambon on August 3, 2010.

 

By taking the theme of "Small Islands for Our Future", Sail Banda 2010 is jointly organized by the Ministry of Marine and Fishery Affairs, Provincial Administration of Mollucas, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Navy Force of Indonesia, supported by the Directorate General of Immigration and other government institutions.

 

Fifty two foreign sails from several countries have been registered to participate in this event. Among of them are Amulet (USA), Annwn (Australia), Anui (Australia), Aspara (Cayman islands), bernick (France), Bluestone (Australia), Catspaw (United Kingdom), Erica (New Zealand), Finale (United Kingdom), First Light III (Australia), Fleck (United Kingdom), Gypsy Rose (Australia), Harmonie (USA), Helios (Germany), Intiaq (Switzerland), Katmandu (italy), larissa (New Zealand), Linda (USA), marnie (USA), Nan Fong (France), Pegasus (United Kingdom), Pelagos (France), Pooino Roa (USA), Priscilla (USA), Pro''s Per Aim (France), Red Boomer II (Australia), Sunray II (Australia), Tamoure (United Kingdom), tara II (Australia), Tea ISwitzerland), Toccata (France), Umbra Luna (Australia), Whisper HR (Australia).

 

Others than sail race, conference on Coral Reef and Small Islands, seminar on Sago ans Spices for Food Security, navy to Navy Talk, symposium on Maritime and Fisheries Research, water sport, cultural shows, social work on three planting and exhibitions will be held as side events of Sail banda 2010.

Denpasar, Bali - Bali has won "The Best Leisure Destination in Asia Pacific" award from the Business Travellers Asia Pacific magazine based in Hong Kong, a tourism official said. DEWA RUCI WINS BEST CREW PARADE IN TALL SHIP RACE Hartlepool, UK - Indonesia`s naval training ship KRI Dewa Ruci and its crew won the title of The Best Crew Parade in the carnival in Hartlepool, about five hours travel from London. Taking part in the carnival on weekend were 85 tall ships, in which Dewa Ruci held various Indonesian cultural and art performances including the Reok Ponorogo masked dance, which had entertained people at Hartlepool, northeast of of County Durham, which has a population of 90,000.
